There are moments in your career that remind you why the hard work is worth it. Today was one of those moments.
I’m incredibly excited to share that I officially passed 3V0-23.25: Advanced VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 Storage — the VCAP-VCF Storage exam.
This wasn’t something I decided to pursue on a whim. It’s the result of several months of preparation — countless hours in my home lab, hundreds of hours of Broadcom training videos, a lot of documentation, and more late nights than I care to admit. Some of those hours were spent troubleshooting problems I broke on purpose, just so I’d actually understand them instead of memorizing around them.
There were plenty of evenings where I asked myself if I was really making progress. Every time I thought I had a topic figured out, I’d uncover another layer underneath it. That’s the reality of advanced certifications. They aren’t about memorizing answers. They’re about building the experience and the confidence to solve problems you’ve never seen before.
The Lab Made the Difference
One of the biggest advantages I had was my VCF 9.1 lab.
Instead of simply reading about features, I deployed them. I broke them and rebuilt them. I upgraded them. I migrated workloads, configured storage, and tested failure scenarios until the behavior actually made sense to me. And I documented it all along the way in my Zero to VCAP series, because I firmly believe the best way to learn something is to teach it.
That philosophy has become a big part of who I am. I’ve said it many times:
I don’t want to hand someone a fish. I want to teach them how to fish.
Every blog post I write, every customer engagement I work on, every VMUG session I hope to give, and every lab I build is driven by that idea.
The Moment
When the exam finally began, months of preparation came down to a single score. And those last few moments waiting for the result felt a lot longer than they actually were.
Then I saw the word.
PASS.
It’s hard to describe that feeling. Relief. Excitement. Validation. Gratitude. All of it at once.
This certification is another important milestone on my journey toward becoming a Broadcom Knight — but it’s not the finish line. There’s still more to learn, more certifications to earn, more blogs to write, more labs to build, and more chances to help customers modernize their environments with VMware Cloud Foundation.
