Earlier this year, I kicked off my “Zero to VCAP” journey with a goal that felt both exciting and intimidating — diving headfirst into the world of VMware Cloud Foundation, modern infrastructure, and advanced VMware certifications.
What started as a challenge to push myself outside of my comfort zone has quickly evolved into something much bigger: a commitment to continuous learning, hands-on lab building, and becoming stronger in the VMware and infrastructure community.
One of the biggest milestones so far was recently passing my VMware VCF Administration Certification. After my first “YOLO” exam attempt during VMUG Connect Minneapolis didn’t go as planned, I doubled down, hit the books hard, spent countless late nights studying, and came back ready.
And honestly, that’s what this journey is all about.
Not perfection.
Not instant success.
But persistence, growth, and continuing to move forward.
Attending VMUG Connect Minneapolis was a huge turning point for me. Beyond the technical sessions and certification prep, it reinforced something I’ve always believed: the VMware community is one of the best communities in tech. The conversations, shared experiences, and willingness to help each other succeed made a lasting impact.
Now I’m excited to share the next step in the journey:
I’m officially registered and booked for VMware Explore 2026 in Las Vegas.
I’m incredibly excited to attend VMware Explorer in Las Vegas and continue building momentum toward my next major milestone: completing my VMware VCAP Storage Certification by the end of May.
The lab work has intensified.
The studying continues.
The late nights are still happening.
But every step forward is worth it.
One of the things I’ve enjoyed most throughout this process is documenting the journey publicly — sharing successes, failures, lessons learned, lab builds, and real-world experiences along the way. My goal has never been to simply collect certifications. It’s about truly understanding the technology, learning how everything connects together, and helping others who may be considering the same path.
From building out my VCF lab environment to working with NetApp storage, Cisco UCS, automation, and modern VMware infrastructure, this journey has reminded me why I love technology in the first place.
VMware Explorer 2026 feels like another major milestone in that story.
I’m looking forward to:
- Deep diving into VMware Cloud Foundation and the future of private cloud
- Learning from engineers and architects across the community
- Exploring automation, storage, AI, and infrastructure modernization
- Connecting with other VMware professionals and content creators
- Continuing to grow both personally and professionally
Most importantly, I’m excited to continue proving something to myself:
You don’t need to know everything to get started.
You just need to start.
The Zero to VCAP journey is far from over — but the progress so far has already been incredibly rewarding.
Las Vegas… here we come.
